Fauquier County PAGE Advisory Committee
August 31, 2006

The state of Virginia mandates that each school division shall provide a local advisory committee composed of parents, teachers, and community members, and others whose purpose is to advise the School Board through the Division Superintendent on the educational needs of gifted students; and to review annually the local plan for the education of gifted students and the extent to which the plan for the previous year was implemented. This committee meets a minimum of four times a year. The purpose of the Fauquier Gateways Advisory Committee is to further the education of all Fauquier County students, especially those identified as gifted and talented, through advocacy, communication, community education, and local plan review. This committee has by-laws that establish operation procedures by which it is governed and submits an annual report of its activities and recommendations to the School Board.

The committee is composed of parents, school personnel and other community members. Meetings are open to the public. The meetings are usually held the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7pm at the School Administration Office, 4th floor conference room, 320 Hospital Drive, Suite 40 (except the October meeting which will be held in the Fauquier High School cafeteria). Please check with the GT coordinator’s office (351-
1012) prior to the meetings for any changes in meeting time or place.
